It is one of the most powerful balneological treatments.
As the water has a slightly alkaline PH-value, it softens and restructure the epidermis. This is a so-called "keratoplastic effect", thanks to which the skin that is dry or covered with calloused epidermis becomes soft, smooth, and springy after a bath.
A sulphide bath substantially expands blood vessels and brings on local redness of the skin, which is beneficial in peripheral arterial disease treatment.
A sulphide bath reduces the level of blood cholesterol, triglycerides and uric acid. This effects are used in diabetes and gout treatment. Sulphur absorbed by the body is used for synthesis of chondroitin sulphuric acid, which rebuilds joint cartilage.
It helps normalise women’s endocrinological system. Apart from that, a sulphide bath has an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect. It also helps detoxify the body after poisoning by heavy metals: lead, mercury, bismuth or arsenic.
Before the bath it is advisable to get off your jewellery, as metals tend to react with sulphur. It is also recommended not to rinse the sulphide water after the bath.
You should take the bath in a sitting position. The temperature of water is about 35-38°C. The treatment takes 15 min. The number of treatments is determined by your doctor on case-by-case basis.
