The treatment is performed with mud paste in the form of a thick pulp, which is obtained from crushed peat.
Mud has a high heat capacity and is a poor conductor of heat, so it is perfect for compresses to achieve deep local overheating.
Due to overheating of the tissues, metabolic processes increase, pain is relieved, muscle tension is reduced and the range of mobility in the joints is increased. In addition to its thermal effect, the mud has a mechanical effect, exerting pressure with the mud mass on the treatment area, causing the outflow of venous blood and lymph in case of peripheral congestion. Moreover, the irritating effect of mud rubbing against the skin is similar to a massage.
This fact is used to facilitate the absorption of various exudative conditions. Humic acids, tannins, resins, waxes, proteins, sugars, amino acids and other compounds found in the mud mass have an irritating, astringent and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and mucous membranes. These ingredients have a beneficial effect on the adrenal cortex and the secretory functions of the ovaries.
The mud paste for wrapping is used at a temperature of 40-44°C,
Duration of the treatment is approximately 30 minutes,
Number of treatments is determined individually by the attending physician.
