Our sanatorium: Partial mud wrapping. This treatment is carried out with the use of mud paste – a thick pulp made of ground limestone soil or peat. Therapeutic mud has a large heating capacity, whereas it is a poor heat conductor, which makes it a perfect poultice, by which deep local superheat can be obtained. Due to tissue superheat, an increase in metabolic processes occur, as well as pain relief, reduction of muscle tension and increase of joint mobility range. Apart from thermal effect, mud also has a mechanic impact, as it exerts mud mass pressure onto the treated part of the body, causing, in case of peripheral stagnation, a large outflow of venal blood and lymph. Moreover, a teasing effect of mud which touches the skin is similar to a massage effect. This treatment has the aim to facilitate the absorption of exudations. Humine acids that are a part of mud mass, as well as tannins, resins, waxes, proteins, sugars, amino acids and other compounds have an irritating, astringent and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and mucous membranes. These compounds have a positive effect on adrenal glands and secretory function of the ovaries. Wrapping mud paste is applied in a temperature of 40-44°C. Duration of the treatment: around 30 min. The number of treatments is determined by your doctor on case-by-case basis. Treatment recommendations: degenerative joint disease post-traumatic condition ankylosing spondylitis (AS) urinary system and gynaecological diseases neuralgia rheumatic diseases spastic paralyses and pareses sciatica traumatic injury to peripheral nerves
